Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog! I hope I haven’t put y’all through too much boredom these last couple weeks. Let me tell you, I’m excited to be done with that chair! This week I upcycled an old window. I’ve had these at my house since I moved in about 10 years ago and I was scrolling through Pinterest and on safari and found that I could upcycle those! The idea that I had was to make a planter at the bottom like this photo below. This project actually was not on my action plan, but I figured that I needed more practice at cutting angles than welding, so I switched to this window. First, I sanded the window and then taped the inside.  After I taped it, I painted the wood white. Although I like the “rustic look” I thought that the white would look better. This is what it looked like after I painted it: I was going to paint flowers on the window, but I decided that would be too much to look at because there will be flowers on the bed already. I felt that it would just be too “busy”...

Hey guys welcome back! These last couple weeks have been a bit stressful, but hopefully things will start to slow down so I find more time to do my genius hours. This week I was suppose upcycle a wire spool into a planter. This is the project I am most excited for, but I cannot find a good spool that is intact enough. So I will keep looking because I really want to do it! But instead of that, this week I decided I should attempt again at the chair. I used some of the wood from my house that I used when building our fence. This wood was so much easier to work with than the wood that I had last week. Though this looks like a simple project, it was difficult for me. I am still learning how to cut angles. The base of the chair that I used was more of a trapezoid than a square, so I had to cut angles in the wood to make sure it lined up perfectly. Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog! So my projects have been all wacked up. I have such a hard time finding the objects I need to upcycle ♻️, so I decided to skip to something that I do have. I decided to upcycle an old chair that I had around my house. I thought this project was going to be super easy because all I had to do was make a barrier on the seat of the chair, but I was wrong. I had a hard time with the wood that I was using because it was dry, so it would keep cracking when I was screwing the screw in. This created an obstacle for me. I predrilled a hole in a diagonal in hopes that when I screwed the screw in, the wood would not crack. Well, it was the thought that counted right. Every single piece of wood that I tried to use cracked. This had me very frustrated because I didn’t know what I was doing wrong to allow this to happen. I could’ve have just let it crack and then make a mixture of wood glue and sawdust to fill in the cracks, but I would not have satisfied with how i...

Hey welcome back guys! So this week I made new use to an old tire. I tried to get the smaller tire I could find but it still was a good size tire. I made a stand for the tire that the plant pot would sit on.  Right here, I measured how large I wanted my base to be and used two different 2x6s to make a circle. I used a jigsaw to cut these semi circles.  Here, I glued the two pieces together and put one screw on each side angled so the two pieces would stay together.  Next, for the legs, I had to cut 3 4x4s at a 15 degree angle on each side. Then I had to glue the 4x4s onto the base that I made. Before I did that I drilled a hole with a drill bit so it would be easy to drill a screw into the 4x4s. After I glued I drilled the screw in and made something that looks like a stool, but it’s really a tire stand which is below! This is the final product(below). Hey guys! So this week was interesting! I was suppose to upcycle a tire, but I could not find one to my liking so I will just have to keep looking! Instead, I moved forward and upcycled some dresser drawers. I first made a stand for them using 2x4s and then screwed the drawers on. I had to measure everything out properly in order for the drawers to be even. I used tools that I was already familiar with, so this was not too hard, other than the drawers were just cheap dresser drawers that we had laying around the house so the screw was hard to drill in. But with the right amount of force I got all of the screws in there! After I got done with this, I proceeded to paint the drawers. I was going to sand the 2x4s and stain them, but I could not find the wood stain at my house, so I’ll have to do that some other time! All in all, I’m pretty proud with how I did this week. I go into every project thinking that it will be easy, but there’s always some difficulty, and that’s what I like! I hop...

Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog! This week, I upcycled an old birdhouse that my brother made over 10 years ago and made it into a planter birdhouse. This process was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I thought I could just cut the wood straight on, but after I did that, I then realize that I had to cut the wood straight down so the container would fit. First, I had to measure out the center of the top and measure around where the container would sit. Then I cut the section out that I measured. Then I had to sand the hole because my container would not fit. When I got done sanding the hole, I started sanding the actual birdhouse and scrape the paint off that was previously on there. Then, I painted the birdhouse purple and because I am not able to plant any flowers due to the weather, I just grabbed some weeds from the Farmshop Greenhouse and stuck them in the container.
